Join the Chambers of Commerce in Whatcom County as we collaborate on a county-wide, Halloween Event!  

 This socially distanced Trip-or-Treat experience will allow parents to get the kids out of the house and into their cars for a drive around the county!  Continue below to find all the participating stops and the community members that helped make this event possible.

Be sure to read and respect the rules, so that this can be as safe as possible!  To add to the fun, compete in the virtual costume contest that will take place on our Facebook event page! 

Code of Conduct

Expectations for businesses and participants

Guest Expectations:

  • Trip or Treat participants must remain in their vehicle.
  • There will be one collection bag/bucket per vehicle.
  • The person responsible for receiving the candy, must be masked. The spookier, the better.

Treat Stop Expectations:

  • Treat giver must be wearing a mask and have access to hand sanitizer.
  • Some sort of hands-free tool must be used to give the candy bag. Tongs, grabbers, witch’s spoon, skeleton’s hand, candy shoot, gloves etc.
  • Candy should be dispersed in amounts of 8-10 pcs/car
  • Proper signage or directions must be present for flow of traffic.
  • Plan for 30 minutes buffers for set-up and take-down.

Costume contest

To add to the fun, compete in the virtual costume contest that will take place on our Facebook Event page! Post your best costume picture by 5pm with the hashtags, #triportreat2020, #whatcomcostumecontest, & #whatcomtriportreat. Judges will decide and announce by 6pm, and winners will be contact to receive their prize. 


By participating in Whatcom Trip or Treat you agree to the following: Whatcom Trip or Treat is provided with no special warranty either express or implied. The Organizers, including but not limited to the Chambers of Commerce of Whatcom County, Municipalities within Whatcom County, Whatcom County, participating businesses and Sponsors, of Whatcom Trip or Treat, assume no liability for any loss, theft, damage, or injury to property or persons, including death, whether arising in contract, negligence, equity, or otherwise. You assume all risks when participating in Whatcom Trip or Treat. All participants must use care and good judgment and must obey all rules and regulations of Whatcom Trip or Treat. You will comply with all requests made by Treat Stops of Whatcom Trip or Treat. You must obey all laws of the State of Washington. Whatcom Trip or Treat Hosts reserves the right to eject any participant who does not comply with the terms of this section. Ejected participants will not be entitled to a refund or any further recourse. You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Whatcom Trip or Treat and its organizers, directors, employees, consultants, agents, affiliates for any and all legal actions arising out of participation in Whatcom Trip or Treat. You further agree to pay all legal fees incurred by Whatcom Trip or Treat Organizers that arise due to this agreement. You give Whatcom Trip or Treat Organizers authorization to use and post any photographs, videotapes, recordings or any other record of our events, including full names of any participants, before during or after the event for promotional use, reporting to the media and to publish on our website or blog. You will not be entitled to any compensation for Whatcom Trip or Treat Organizers’ use of your name or image. Whatcom Trip or Treat Organizers reserve the right to exclude anyone from becoming a Whatcom Trip or Treat participant should they choose not to accept this Agreement.
